Remembering the Master on his 85th death anniversary

Posted by:

Roj Din Mah Bahman, 1381 Yz.

Today, 7th July is the 85th Baj, or death anniversary of our Master, late Ustad Saheb Behramshah Nowroji Shroff, as per the English calendar. On this occasion, prayers, Machi, and Jashans are being held in our own Daremeher named after Ustad Saheb as well as several other Agiaries and Atash Behrams in Mumbai and other Parsi locales. The main Jashan and lecture program is being held at the Cama Baug in Mumbai where Vada Dasturji Kaikhushroo N. Meherji Rana will speak. At our Daremeher in Jogeshwari, I will speak on some unknown facts about the life of the Master.

On this solemn day, I would like to draw the attention of readers of Frashogard to the long series detailing some very interesting facts and stories about the eventful life of the Master. This series was then published as a book, called ‘A Wondrous Life’ which is available for sale as well as a free PDF download from the Frashogard SkyDrive.

Due to reasons given at the end of this post, I am unable to write more today but will follow up on our pending articles shortly.

Till then readers of Frashogard will join me in praying one Ashem Vohu and wishing that the Ruvan of Osta Behramshah Osta Navroze will progress further and further and shower its blessings on our troubled community.

Ervad Marzban J. Hathiram

[Editor’s Note: I apologize for the long gap between the last post and this. I slipped and fell on my back,  herniating two of my lumbar discs. I was hospitalized and then operated for a laminectomy and discetomy. After a few days of recovery I have resumed active duty from today at the Daremeher. The days in hospital were also a unique kind of learning experience which I will write about shortly.]

    Dear Erwad Saheb,

    Unhappy to note about your fall resulting into hospitalization & consequential disruption from your work activity. Your absence was missed amongst others, by us avid readers of your illuminative write-ups & postings. We pray “The MASTER” above & its guiding arch angels to give you strength to enable bear the resultant pain & discomfort; and restortion back to normalcy with gutso – in the service of the Lord & its lofty creation – the mankind.

    I had the opportunity of attending the Jashan ceremony in memory of the revered Ustad Saheb and invoking his blessings. Was also privileged to hear the lucid & illuminative talk of Dasturji Meherjirana Saheb which made a lot of pragmatic sense and a useful addition to our spiritual storehouse [aatmaan-ni-unnanti]. As usual, he kept the august audience spellbound by his oratory power, deep knowledge of Kshnoom and his radiating aura. May Lord Ahuramazda’ bless him with good health, happiness & cheer.
    Would appreciate if you could let me know —
    as to from where can I source the para wise “saar” [meaning – literal & asoteric] of our pazand Behman Yeshst – in Gujarati or English?
    Also in which paras in avesta Hormuzd Yeshst, is there a direct reference to Behman Ameshaspand [vohuman]?
    Can one by reciting Hormuzd yeshst, simultaneously pay one’s homage & thanksgiving to Dadaar Ahuramazda as also its lofty Behman Ameshaspand?
    Shukr-guzaar & Khuda-hafeez!

    @Jean
    The cost of sending the book is really prohibitive. I would suggest you download the first edition as a PDF file which is free and instant. Look in IlmeKhshnoom Skydrive – English books. Thanks.
